New Year, New Me

With every new year, I feel a sense of beginning. Then school starts back up and I feel exactly the same as I did the year before: tired and bored. This, might I add, is the worst combination. But you know what it reminds me of? Christmas. All I do at Christmas time is sit around and eat junk food, getting fat and being bored by pointless discussions being had by my family.
Cackles*  You know I was just being silly, right? I'm not that pessimistic! I live in America for goodness sakes! It would be completely narrow-minded and selfish for me to think like that.... But then again, it happens to the best of us. Especially when it's that time of the month, if you know what I mean(and I sure hope you do). Lately I can't help but be reminded of the seven chapters of homework I have to do for A.P. Biology, which is due in less than 36 hours. By the way, for each chapter(25+ pages) I have to do a concept map and a vocabulary sheet(25+ words). I know what you're thinking, Over winter break?! How can this be?! But seeing as it's for a college class and I'm a sophomore in high school, it's actually easy to understand. I need all the time I can get studying for this class to be able to pass the exam. It's going to determine whether or not I get college credit. Ahhh!!
Oh right, this post isn't about my unimportant rants, it's about the new year. DUH! My new years resolution is to make the most of it. To me this statement encapsulates everything I've been lacking. I always procrastinate and whilst doing so I tend to complain about the work that I'm procrastinating. It's a deadly cycle that leads to nothing. Wait, no. It leads to unhappiness and dissatisfaction.
So this year that is all going to change. Thus my resolution to 'make the most of it'. I realized just now that this year is the first year I spent new years away from home. Not that I was away away or anything, just at a friends. It was a different experience for sure. There were three girls my age, two of them I had never met and the third was the friend that invited me. None the less we all clicked like four peas in a pod. Usually I have a bunch of my closest buddies at my house, we all stay up late with movies or whatever, and at midnight we watch the fireworks shoot off the Space Needle in downtown Seattle. After that we bang a bunch of pots and pans and scream our heads off out towards the harbor that my house sits over. At Hannah's(that's whose house I was at) we played Mario Kart Wii until about 11:45, then we turned on Komo 4 News and waited until the fireworks went off(which we mostly texted other friends during) and then slept. Just a little boring if you ask me.
Oh shute! I started complaining again. I guess it's a harder habit to break than I thought. And since it doesn't look like this post is going anywhere fast, I'll just get right to the point.
Here are the changes I'm going to make in the new year:
  • slowly break my procrastinating habit(cold turkey just seems a little too dramatic)
  • be more confident(those Mean Girl wannabees won't get me down this year!)
  • eat healthier and keep to my exercise regime better than I have been(of course... I say this every year)
  • and now for the big one: concentrate and dedicate solely on my horseback riding and not be distracted
  • spend less time on facebook! lol ;)
Leave a comment saying what your new years resolution is, past news years resolutions that you really stuck to, news years traditions, or changes to be had in the new year!
